SUPPORT DURING THE PANDEMIC

The company seleon has been in contact with Löwenstein Medical Technology (LMT) for many years. At the beginning of the year, there were discussions about production support in the area of ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic phase.

The ventilator "VentiLogic LS", was requested in large numbers by the Federal Ministry of Health during the corona pandemic phase in spring/summer. The device itself is a robust, easy-to-use and well-engineered system that has been sold in stores since 2011 - originally under the "Weinmann" brand and has since been used successfully in many countries for the treatment and recovery support of patients suffering from COVID-19.

In a very short time, initial casual discussions (beginning of April 2020), led to on-site visits in Hamburg, the development of a potential transfer concept and a corresponding offer for the start of the project and the desire of both companies to implement a production transfer from Hamburg
to Dessau in a timely manner. Within 14 days, our colleagues were trained on the running production line by LMT in Hamburg. In this short time, our colleagues were able to reproduce the output of the LMT company and so the production line in Hamburg was dismantled on 30.04.2020 and rebuilt on 4 May at our production site in Dessau. The pilot series production and acceptance of the production line took place by LMT on 13 May. This was followed by the establishment of a two-shift model including the training of new colleagues (personnel recruitment) and a concept to increase the first passed yields.

To date, we have already produced several thousand devices. During a visit to Dessau in mid-June, LMT drew a positive interim conclusion and praised the team's commitment and performance.

The company seleon would like to thank Löwenstein Medical Technology for their trust and tireless efforts during the initial training and transfer phase. Special thanks also go to our own colleagues, who are involved in this demanding project and who are now continuing to work on the processing and on-time fulfilment of the outstanding orders and thus, together with LMT, making a decisive contribution towards combating the pandemic.
