Medical textiles show their great importance in the protection of the population, especially in the worldwide exceptional situation of the corona pandemic. Due to the huge increase in demand, Hohenstein Laboratories is continuing to expand this area and in doing so is being confronted with the new and high requirements of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR), the European regulation for medical products. In order to professionally cover this field, seleon supports the testing laboratory in regulatory issues.
Both companies are experts in their respective industries. Hohenstein Laboratories has excellent know-how in the textile sector as well as knowledge of international markets. seleon supports them with its expertise in the development, production and approval of medical products. Good synergy effects are therefore expected for both partner companies.
We jointly support the further development of already established products as well as the develop-
ment of new and innovative textile medical products. Both require regulatory competence as well as knowledge of testing procedures tailored
to medical textiles and the corresponding measuring and testing equipment. This not only leads us to expect successful new products in the medical products sector in the future, but also supports manufacturers in the coming months, especially in making their existing products fit
for the new MDR.
"We are currently experiencing that numerous manufacturers of textile medical products are not yet prepared for the new requirements by MDR. This is where Hohenstein and seleon can provide substantial support together," says Christin Hammer, Product Manager for Medical Applications at Hohenstein.
Innovation arises from tradition – the holistic view from the textile as well as the regulatory perspective enables the further development of products to new medical applications. We work hand in hand.
