seleon - a young, successful and fast-growing business
With just four years to look back on, seleon is a relatively young company, merged in 2002 from two affiliated companies which had previously worked extremely well together.
1998 Incorporation of the scientific consulting group as consulting and software service provider .
1999 First software product with solus position on the world market.
2000 Removal to new premises, establishment of heptec hardware engineering in Dessau.
2001 Joint development of customized, comprehensive device solutions (hardware and software).
2002 ISO 9001:2000 certification of all corporate divisions, merger of both companies.
Today, seleon employs 25 people, mainly engineers and scientists.
Another aspect which guarantees the high quality standard of our work is the fact that we have financed our corporate build-up entirely from self-generated funds.
seleon's leading lights
Our management can look back on many years of industrial and scientific experience in software and hardware development as well as in production.
Excellence and competence combining at the top of seleon:
With their profound professional experience, Dr. Michael Lauk and Harald Genger, physicists, cover a wide range of competence areas and work glove in hand: Dr. Lauk with his scientific background and extensive know-how in clinical research, and Harald Genger with many years of experience in hardware engineering and production. Both enjoy intensive contacts with research institutions and clinical centers in Europe and the USA.
ISO 9001: 2000 certification
Product safety and quality requirements are particularly stringent in medical engineering. Our quality management guarantees consistently high quality levels. And our processes ensure smooth and professional cooperation.
For us, customer satisfaction has absolute priority, with all our processes aiming toward that single outstanding goal.
By introducing the QM system, we have created the necessary groundwork for the efficient organization of our fast-growing young company.
Our management is also regularly audited with X-ray precision, because we are permanently striving to improve our processes.
We aim to grow following our own standards – for the benefit of our customers and clients.

Custom-made hardware solutions
For us, hardware means more than just the development of electronic components and boards. Working closely with your product management and keeping a close eye on the market specifications, we integrate electronics, mechanical components and design.
Our team develops technically sophisticated solutions for you, either as components for your systems, as assemblies or as part of the device development. Typical examples are:
A good concept helps to save time and money in development
This is a statement that anyone can endorse who has ever been involved in R&D projects in larger teams. We see ourselves not only as extended workbench for our customers and as outsourcing partner, but as people with expertise and know-how who create significant added value for our customers, not least on the conceptual level.
Again, our services include the pursuit of a consistent patent strategy which we build up for our customers.
There are different definitions and uses of the term "prototypes". We will try at this point to give a more precise definition.
Rapid prototype – a hard and fast term?
Not with us! We expand this well-known term not only by making housing components at breakneck speed, but also the content – no matter if hardware or software.
So, if you are pondering whether you should postpone the presentation of your new product at the next trade fair - give us a call first.
Reducing development risks through preliminary studies with functional samples
It is difficult, particularly in medical engineering, to gauge the success of a new method simply by relying on a few results from physiological and clinical research. More often than not it makes good sense to test the functionality in study samples before moving to the expensive prototype development.
These functional samples, as we call them, we developed within the shortest possible space of time and - above all - cost efficiently. And, while we are at it, we also organize the accompanying study.
Allowing basic research
An idea has been born, but special equipment, not available on the market, is needed in order to investigate, to validate, examine - in short: to move ahead.
In spite of their special orientation, laboratory samples must be designed as variable in many aspects to give researchers and scientists the leeway they need.
The earlier, the better
Applications in medical engineering tend to go to largely closed markets where lobbies, institutionalized cost systems and opinion leaders call the tune. The early promotion of acceptance as well as early studies greatly help the market launch and save valuable time.
Accompanying a project in terms of concepts, which we always see as being driven by the market requirements, helps us to develop the strategic marketing under the aspect of one's own solus features and the competition. This is where we provide competent support.
Even at the earliest stages in development, we include users and opinion leaders. This will ensure that acceptance in the appropriate community is high and that the market will respond quicker once the development has been completed.
Successful studies are an indispensable element of every new application.
These not only include the requirements and specifications of the regulatory bodies world-wide, but also the fact that, even while the study is in progress, product management gains important information at an early point in time. What makes sense, what is superfluous, which items are handled easily by doctors and patients, where are the weaknesses? Successful products must find good answers to these questions and solve these issues.
We produce under the most favorable conditions in the new federal states of Germany with a highly trained and qualified team of specialist technicians and engineers. This allows us to build large capacities within the shortest possible time where others have to quit: in manpower.
Why not use this enormous advantage!
Our production facility works inline with the ISO 9001:2000 processes and ensures ultimate quality at competitive prices.
Affordable single items
Complex, tailor-made systems requiring massive engineering brainpower in production need not be unaffordable. Do you also have a product where each item delivered is specially custom-made? We help you to make your requirements affordable and to shorten lead times.
Everything from a single source.
The words of a top manager in the German industry, spoken during an interview a few weeks ago, are not only correct but, we believe, essential: "External development contracts will in future only be awarded to companies which can also take on production, at least at the initial stage".
Who, if not the developers themselves, could take on a pilot series production quicker, more reliably and better? We supply you with the first series of your new product rapidly and without any financial friction losses.
We produce smaller batches in our Dessau-based branch facility.
Reliably, fast, at the highest quality standards and with cost efficiency.
Products must be launched on the market at ever faster cycles: this also means that production tasks and development are more and more difficult to keep separate. The fact that a service provider, originally at home in development, now offers production is only too logical.
At the transition point from small batch production to volume production, many crucial questions emerge, some decisive for the deliverability of the product. We have a wealth of experience in this field, can advise you, and prepare a volume series for you with one of our partners and ultimately place the contract.
We rely both on resources in Germany and on well-established contacts in the Far East.
Where we come from
Over four years ago, we started to build up our business with consulting services. And consulting we still provide: at the highest level, with tangible results which are immediately open to implementation.
Questions of feasibility, approvals and registrations, regulatory affairs, scientific issues, questions on markets and potentials in medical engineering or on industrial property rights: We'd be pleased to share our skills and our many years of experience with you.
Last but not least
Excellent, well-made documentation is an element in the acceptance of your new product which should not be underrated. User-oriented documentation, taking account of the statutory standards and regulations, requires the commensurate technical knowledge.
We have engineers with many years of experience in this field, who are thoroughly familiar both with the technical aspects and the users.
